Here we have a great example of a vintage Ibanez Artist Series 2618 (later known as the AR300) - built in Japan in 1977, this guitar is a nice showcase for the company's innovation during this time period. Over the years, these have become collectible and in demand - so we were thrilled to get this one in.
The solid mahogany body is topped with a nice bookmatched flame maple carved top with cream binding. It really is stunning. It has a set-in neck with a smooth heel. The neck itself is a 3-piece rock maple with a 24.75 scale length, topped with an ebony fretboard, binding and 24 medium frets. The split block pearloid/Mexican abalone inlays are quite eye-catching. What will also catch your eye is the half bone, half brass nut, leading to a unique tone. The headstock has a beautiful pearloid inlay as well, and Ibanez VelveTune tuners. It has the Gibraltor bridge with sustain block (embedded in the body) and the slotted Gibraltar tailpiece.
One of the things that really makes this guitar unique and desirable is what it's loaded with: two Super 80 Flying Fingers humbuckers. These aren't seen on later models and have become a hot topic for those that know these guitars. They sound amazing, both clean and overdriven, lending them to a variety of styles.
This is one of the cooler vintage Ibanez guitars we've had in here, and a great example of their highly sought after late 70's work. It's in great condition, considering the age. Please be sure to view all of the photos, which show the scratches, small dings, wear marks, etc. It has been vetted and set up to play perfectly by the techs in our shop. It comes with a nice hardshell case (not original). Grab this one before it's gone.
