We have an incredible vintage Greco for you! This original vintage, super rare Greco EGC-550 John Sykes Custom LP-style is another one from Pal Waaktaar’s collection and is in gorgeous playing condition.
Waaktaar-Savoy is best known for his work as the main songwriter and guitarist in the Norwegian synth-pop band a-ha, which has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. He has written or co-written most of the band's biggest hits, including "The Sun Always Shines on T.V.", "Hunting High and Low", "Take On Me", the 1987 James Bond theme "The Living Daylights" and the ballad "Summer Moved On".
This was one of Greco’s top of the line signature models, with Screamin' 1982 pickups, mirror bling all over, and a super fast neck. These amazing instruments were absolutely on par with anything USA Gibson was making at the time, and have become classics in their own right, treasured by players and collectors alike.
This example is a particularly excellent player, and has some of that special guitar magic on it that just makes it better that the rest: Arrow straight neck, lightning fast, and just jumps into the hands and seems to play itself. Credit the guitar gods.
Cosmetically, she’s very nice as well, with gobs of genuine vintage patina and mojo, sweet finish aging, and some strap button relocation scars, all included at no extra charge. The guitar has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, and comes with a hardshell case. For those that know how cool these Greco guitars, this is quite the find. For those that don't know, it's time to find out!
