Pre Owned Vintage 1957 Gibson Les Paul Special TV Yellow Single Cut With Case
We just took in a very special guitar - a vintage 1957 Les Paul Special. This is a great example of what Gibson was doing back in mid to late 50's, and it's both a collector's and player's dream.
Possessing slightly superior specs than the Les Paul Jr, the Les Paul Special first hit the market in 1955, equipped with two P-90 pickups. This model experienced a considerable evolution near the finish of the '50s and has been repeatedly reissued since its original launch. Many renowned players, such as Bob Marley, John Lennon and Martin Barre, have favored the Les Paul Special and helped cement its legendary status in guitar history.
We did our due diligence on this Les Paul Special and found that the finish is original, as are the pickups, as well as most of the parts. Here's what else we found:
- Replaced Tone Knob
- Replaced Bridge
- Replaced Tuners
- Replaced 2nd fret
- Replaced case, but it is a vintage 60's hardshell case
The guitar has been vetted and setup by our vintage expert and head luthier. It plays amazingly, and of course sounds amazing too! The pickups provide a thick, rich, full tone, and can handle both clean and dirty sounds. We were actually a bit suprised at how versatile this guitar is. It's not what you think of with a 50's Les Paul Special but this truly can be used for a variety of styles. The neck is super comfortable, not too thick, and it would be easy to keep this strapped on all night, weighing in at just 7.3 lbs.
This Les Paul Special is in great condition, especially considering it's reached senior citizen status at over 65 years old. But it won't move like a senior citizen - it's expected to go fast! For anyone that wants a vintage Gibson and is a fan of Les Paul Specials, this is a prime choice.
